Beachcombers, Watergate Bay, Cornwall

This project started in 2021, as a follow-on from an ADG Appraisal of the site undertaken in 2019 / 2020.

ADG involved Bob of DP Arch in the development of the scheme towards a detailed Planning Application because of his close involvement in the development of the Watergate Bay Hotel and Watergate Bay Village projects, his knowledge of the local area, as well as his extensive experience in residential projects.

The scheme was developed to provide 16 Luxury Holiday Apartments contained within a single block located over an integrated car parking and surf-board storage area. The challenge was to form an arrangement for the apartments where each of the apartments would have a southerly aspect for their main living and balcony spaces. As with the earlier Beachcombers Apartments to the west the block will constructed by the quarrying of the Tregurrian hillside. The holiday accommodation is orientated to give the benefit of southerly and westerly sea view with the bedroom accommodation facing the rear excavated and landscaped hillside.

A contemporary design approach was supported by the Local Authority and Councillors and the scheme is awaiting final instruction to proceed to the Full Planning application.
