Leeward House, Mount Wise

ADG
The ADG team have been assisting Hertford Investors since 2008 with the regeneration of the former naval property known as Mount Wise to the west of Plymouth city centre.
The site offers stunning views over the Royal William Yard (Grade I & II Listed Royal Naval Victualling Yard), beyond to the sea and Mount Edgecumbe in Cornwall and contains a group of Listed buildings, including the former Admirals house, a cricket pitch and a nuclear proof bunker.
Three phases have been completed including the 59 one, two, and three bed apartment building named as Leeward House, with the fourth under construction comprising of 76 apartments in a seven-storey building situated along the northern boundary.
Leeward House offers stunning views over the city to the east, cricket pitch to the north and the sea to the south.
The architecture adopts a randomised approach to the elevational aesthetic, accentuated by a mix of balcony types, with a combination of one and two bedroomed apartments and generous roof terraces for the 3-bedroom penthouse units. Centralised plant serves the building removing the untidy clutter of balanced flues to the facades and also introducing EPC Grade A energy efficiency to the development. This also allows for a future connection to Plymouth's planned District Heating System.
Bob completed the Architectural Design and Planning for the project with another architect taking over the detailed design and on-site construction stages. Planning also required a presentation to the South West Design Panel, completed by Bob to overall success.
Through Dunnottar Park Architects, Bob has continued to be involved with Mount Wise assisting in the development of the next planned phase for the development through the preparation of a Pre-Application Enquiry to the Planning Authority.
